"Quoticus"

Jackson has obtained a nickname for himself... Quoticus. He earned it from his sharp memory of movie lines. After seeing a movie, he will basically re-quote it to you, even if you were sitting right next to him during the movie...it can be a little anoying. However, I realized where he might have gotten this little gift from. If you look at our refrigerator, you will see little bits of paper taped all over it. They are clippings from magazines and horescopes from newspapers. Mostly inspirational things to keep us positive. Some of them are so good I thought from time to time I would share one on the blog under the title "Quoticus". Here is a recent one...

Let go of...The need to feel secure
We all have those times when we
don't know where we're headed or
who we are. But you can't grow
if you stay in your comfort zone.
Step into the unknown. Release
your need for guarantees. Your
life will evolve into something
better than you can imagine, if
you give it half a chance.
PS: as an update on the Hoods life...Tom is in Little Rock, AK for the summer selling alarm systems. Already he is having great success, but it is a challenge having him gone. We miss him a ton! I have taken a big jump and am trying out being a brunette for the first time in 10 years. I am still getting used to it and will post a picture when I feel a little more confident : ) I hurt my knee skiing 2 weeks ago but am doing well. No surgery needed at the moment. Kids are doing well. They are trudging along with school, hoping summer will be here soon.

Sundance

Probably one of my favorite places on earth. We got some deep snow recently and enjoyed every minute until out legs were on fire!

OMG!

OK this has to be one of my top cooking disasters. As I finished cooking dinner, I thought..."It would be so nice to have warm chocolate cake for dessert." I didn't want to take the time to look through my recipes, so I decided to try the recipe on the Hershey's cocoa box.
Well...As we cleaned up dinner, with 15 minutes to go on the timer, we started to smell the burn. I don't know what went wrong but all the batter poofed over the edges of the pans and dripped onto my pampered chef pizza stone and racks.

I am so bummed it didn't turn out! I swear I followed the directions too!
So If anyone has successfully made the chocolate cake from the back of the Hershey's can, let me know. Untill then I'm giving up on Hersheys : (
ps: I had to pay Jackson $10.00 to clean the disaster up!

Paige's Birthday & X-Dance

January 16th was a great day. I was able to spend the day skiing with friends at Sundance. The kids sang Happy Birthday to me. We were out of candles so we used a mini glow stick from Halloween! Later that night Tom and I attended the X-Dance action soprts film festival in Salt Lake City. We saw the premier of a movie about Dede. He is a professional surfer from Indonesia.

He came all the way from Bali for the festival and really enjoyed hanging out with all the ladies : ) It was a fun filled weekend. We won a pair of Sean White autographed goggles! Thank You everyone for the great Birthday Wishes! I have the best family and friends a girl could ever ask for. XOXO
