Books I've been Reading

Several months ago several girlfriends and I started a book club. This has been the first period in probably 10 years that I have actively started reading on a regular basis. I have loved it! I feel like a thirst I didn't even know was there is being quenched. Some books we choose are "heavier" reading and some books are fun and light. But I have felt compelled to share 2 books that I have really enjoyed. Ken Follett's "The Pillars of the Earth" was a recent Oprah book club selection. Due to it's 900+ pages, our book club hasn't chosen it. I decided to read it on my own and not feel rushed to get through it. It is a beautifully written story that spans a 35-40 year period in the 1100's. The story revolves around the building of a cathedral. For you historical fiction buffs, it is great to learn what life was like in those times. I certainly gained an appreciation of the modern conveniences I enjoy. I highly recommend it. Another book I am only half way through is "A New Earth, Awakening to your life's purpose" by Eckhart Tolle. This is the current Oprah book club pick and coresponds to the live web event every monday night. This book has profoundly changed the way I function on a daily basis. I am still learning and trying to change my old patterns. If you are looking for a true WOW experience, check this book out. I thought I would read the book then pass it along to Tom. However, almost every page is marked with highlighter and comments that i bought him his own copy! There are so many jewels but I will share a great quote I came across today:
"How to be at peace now? By making peace with the present moment...Once you have made peace with the present moment, see what happens, what you can do or choose to do, or rather what life does through you. There are three words that convey the secret of the art of living, the secret of all success and happiness: One with Life. Being one with life is being one with Now...Life is the dancer, and you are the dance."
OK it's pretty heavy stuff. That's why it's taking me a while to digest it all. If any of you friends and family have also read this book I would love to get you ideas and thoughts on how it has changed you. I also love to get new book suggestions.

Red Neck Fun

Last Saturday we were looking for some fun and thought it would be fun to visit dave and his family in Mapleton. So we loaded up the guns and Annie and headed over. It was great for the kids to be able to ride 4-wheelers, motorcycles, and a horse as well as shoot a lot of stuff!

Cameron wanted to move there : )
I missed the clay pigeon! Not such a good shot.

Like father, like son.

Jackson did great learning to ride the 100.
Thanks Dave for a great day!

Crazy January

The year started off with a fun new years eve at Truman and Carolyn Child's. Bently the yorkie is their little guy. Then for my Birthday I felt the need to diva it up with a tiara. Heather came down from Salt Lake to help me celebrate.
X-Dance is the action Sports Film Festival that coincides with Sundance Film Festival. The Wimmers always give us the VIP treatment and the Films and parties are incredible!
Patti, Paige, Suzi Q and Jill havin fun.
The best part is meeting the athletes! The boys saw Tony Hawk's skateboard movie and got a photo signed. ( note Jackson in the red beanie)
Even Patti and I couldn't resist a photo op! You couldn't wipe the grins off our faces : )
Well I also met Travis Pestrana and am waiting for that pix from a girlfriend so I will post it later. The kids are doing well and Tom has started a new adventure with Click Income. This week he is in Ohio and next week Florida. More news to come...
